For the third year running, Atma Energy has been recognized as one of Texas’ top ten leading residential solar contractors, with this most recent award appearing in Solar Power World’s 2026 Top Solar Contractors issue.
The annual list ranks solar companies based on the amount of solar capacity installed during the previous year. Atma ranked No. 6 among residential solar contractors in Texas.
For us, the recognition reflects a year of continued growth and the great work our team puts into designing and building solar systems for Texas homeowners.
Building a different kind of solar company
The recognition comes at an important time for residential solar in Texas. Over the past several years, a number of solar companies have closed their doors, leaving homeowners with unfinished projects, systems that need service and, in some cases, no installer to turn to for help. The industry has also faced increased scrutiny over deceptive sales practices, financing and poor-quality installations, all of which have led to the passing of the new SB 1036 legislation to protect homeowners purchasing solar.
Atma stood out when the San Antonio Express-News featured Atma and CEO and Co-Founder Supratim Srinivasan throughout its exposé of the Texas residential solar industry. While the investigation uncovered troubling practices across the industry, its reporting highlighted Atma as one of the good guys in solar. The newspaper reviewed more than 1,000 complaints filed with the Texas Attorney General’s Office and found none involving Atma. It later described Atma as “one of the reputable solar panel companies in the area.”
At the same time, we were seeing another side of the problem firsthand. Homeowners were coming to us because the company that installed their system had gone out of business and they had nowhere else to turn.
We began taking on more of these orphaned systems in 2023 and have since built a service operation that can diagnose and repair systems installed by other companies. That work has now been highlighted by Solar Power World in its article, Solar contractors service arrays after original installers shutter, which looks at contractors stepping in to support homeowners after their original installers close.
The recognition means even more alongside Atma’s ranking among the top residential solar contractors in Texas. At a time when parts of the industry have struggled with closures, consumer complaints and questions about accountability, we’re proud to be recognized for both the work we’re doing today and the support we provide to homeowners who need help with systems others left behind.
